Pumpkin Carving Idea

Looking for a great pumpkin carving idea? Why not give this guy a try?! I carved this pumpkin last week for a family event and it really wasn’t that hard at all.

Here are a couple tips:

1) To clean out the pumpkin, cut a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin, not the top. This way you can use the bottom cutout to create the tongue, plus the pumpkin will sit nice and flat. It’s also easier to lower the pumpkin over a candle, than to drop a candle in from the top.

2) Use a handheld wood or metal saw to cut the gourds. It will be faster, easier and safer than using a kitchen knife.

3) Use broken bamboo skewers to hold the eyes, ears and tongue on. If you have a couple long screws, you can use those too on the ears, just screw from the inside of the pumpkin out towards the ears.

4) If you make the pumpkin a couple days ahead of time, remember to mist it with water so it doesn’t dry out. If you mist every other day with a water/bleach mix, you’ll prevent the pumpkin from molding too!

Happy Halloween, Everyone!
